Benahavís

Benahavis is charming little village set up in the mountains 150 metres above sea level and 7km away from the coast. You arrive by driving through the Rio Guadalmina gorge up into the hills, The buildings are ancient, small and Spanish white, cut up by winding, narrow cobbled streets that are lined with orange trees.

To many people Benahavís is known for its food. It has the highest concentration of high-class restaurants in the region and draws visitors by the thousands who come simply to savour the cuisine, It is known as ´La Sartén de Andalucía´ (the frying pan of Andalucía), and home to a wide variety of restaurants serving the very best of traditional, Andalucian cooking. but this is not all the quaint little town of Benahavís has to offer!

Benahavis municipality spans a huge area and is home to La Zagaleta, Los Arqueros, Los Flamingos, Monte Mayor, Atalaya, El Herrojo, El Madroñal, El Paraiso Alto, La Alquería, La Heredia and La Quinta making it one of the richest towns of Spain.

Attractions

Tower Park
Described as an oasis in the town, This Park is well preserved with local plants, trees and a small lake. Tower Park is perfect for an afternoon stroll in a secluded tranquil setting.
Los Arqueros Golf & Country Club
Recently under new management the golf club is now home to a fantastic tenpin bowling area, sport bar, gym and a tennis academy on the way.
The Rock Pools
This is an extremely popular local attraction. Head up the Benahavis Road and just before the village there are lots of car parking spaces and normally lots of people. You start at the top of the river and work your way all the way to the bottom . The whole experience will take you about 90 minutes and be prepared for a bit of climbing a bit of swimming and a whole lot of adventure.
Sunday market
There are plenty of bargains to be had – second-hand goods of all types; antiques, arts and crafts, discount designer clothes, electrical goods, handmade furniture; among other assorted bric-a-brac. Set among a dramatic rugged landscape of the Guadalmina river gorge, surrounded by wooded mountain slopes and the lushness of Las Angosturas Nature Reserve.
